(TNO) - Nằm về phía tây tỉnh Nghệ An, huyện Con Cuông vào thời nhà Lê được gọi là phủ Trà Lân, nổi tiếng với câu “Miền Trà Lân trúc chẻ, tro bay” trong tác phẩm Bình Ngô đại cáo của Nguyễn Trãi. Đây là một trong chín huyện miền núi miền tây Nghệ An đã được tổ chức UNESCO công nhận là Khu dự trữ sinh quyển thế giới vào năm 2007.

Di sản thiên nhiên lớn nhất của huyện Con Cuông chính là 67.233 ha rừng thuộc Vườn quốc gia Pù Mát, là vùng trung tâm của Khu dự trữ sinh quyển thế giới miền tây Nghệ An. Đến đây, nhiều du khách thích khám phá vẻ đẹp thiên nhiên hoang sơ ở khu du lịch sinh thái Phà Lài. Đi thuyền ngắm cảnh sông Giăng, cảm giác mệt mỏi sau 3 tiếng đi xe ôtô từ trung tâm thành phố Vinh đến đây dường như tan biến khi khách hòa mình vào làn nước mát lạnh, trong xanh không tì vết.
