(BKH) - Tân Châu nằm bên kia bến phà Hồng Ngự của tỉnh Đồng Tháp. Tôi đến đó vào một buổi chiều, trời nhiều mây nên không nhìn thấy mặt trời lặn về phía nào. Chuyến phà cuối ngày thưa thớt người, không thấy ai hối hả vội vàng.

Thị xã Tân Châu nhỏ bé nằm sát bờ sông, vắng vẻ, hiền hòa, không có nhà cao tầng, chỉ có những dãy nhà phố buôn bán nhỏ lẻ. Nghe nói chỗ này ngày xưa là một khu phố sầm uất, nhưng có một năm con sông hiền hòa đột nhiên nổi giận, bờ sông đổ sụp kéo theo một dãy phố. Buổi chiều đi qua, mặt trời giấu mình ở đâu đó làm cho con phố vốn lặng lẽ cũng trở nên buồn hiu hắt, vài người bắc ghế trước cửa nhà mình ngồi ngó ra đường, gương mặt an nhiên tự tại, thản nhiên nhìn chiếc xe lạ đang chầm chậm đi qua.
