Theo Địa chí An Giang, núi Sam cao 237m, chu vi khoảng 5.000m. Đây là cao điểm chiến lược có thể quan sát, kiểm soát cả một vùng biên giới rộng lớn từ TP. Châu Đốc đến tận tuyến biên giới Tịnh Biên, từ cánh đồng vùng Bảy Núi qua huyện Châu Phú. Để lên đỉnh núi, du khách có thể đi bằng cáp treo và leo núi bằng đường bộ hoặc chạy xe gắn máy theo cung đường vườn Tao Ngộ.
